Premier Evolvics, the global leader for quality testing and monitoring equipment for the textile industry, co-sponsored and presented a key note address in the technology session in the 63rd All India & 9th International Textile Association of India’s Conference at Ahmadabad, India. The presentation was attended by 800 textile delegates from India and abroad.

Mr. V Srinivasan, Head – Business Unit: Laboratory Products introduced two new process parameters which have a significant advantage for the spinning industry. Delivering the lecture, Mr. Srinivasan said “Over the last two years, we have been interacting with spinners on a worldwide basis and have come to an understanding that among the several quality and process parameters being used by the industry, Hairiness and estimation of Neps have become the biggest challenge for the spinning mills. Based on this feedback, Premier has now introduced two new process parameters - Hair Severity representing the severity of the disturbing long length hairs and True Neps – a process tool for estimating the yarn neps based on the Finisher Draw Frame Sliver”

Elaborating further, he added “Conventional Hairiness measurement like the Hairiness Index is not the true representation of the yarn hairiness. It is a well known fact that the long length hairs are the problematic part. Hair Severity focuses on this aspect and represents, in a single number, the severity of the longer hairs. Hair Severity is available as a feature on the Premier IQ Qualicenter – the world’s most intelligent evenness tester. Hair Severity can be used as an indicator for critical process parameters in the spinning process such as the selection of ring travellers, optimization of spacer size etc. The Hair Severity Statistics 2007 represent a new benchmark for the spinners in controlling yarn hairiness. Hair Severity also shows a good correlation with key raw material characteristics. Hair Severity can also help in the selection of the right yarn for a superior knitting or weaving performance”.

Mr. Srinivasan also provided details on the True Neps parameter. True Neps is another intelligent solution for process control. True Neps enables the spinner to predict the yarn neps based on the neps in the Finisher Draw Frame sliver. This helps the spinner to minimize the production of the deviated material and take the necessary actions on the previous processes. True Neps offers a high co-relation between sliver neps and the actual yarn neps, as observed in the several studies done with various count and material. True Neps is available as a feature on the aQura NL – the most accurate raw material and process management system.

On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition was also organized.
